Saying goodbye to Christmas trees

For anyone who has a real Christmas tree and wants to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way, the Mountain Top COG compost facility will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 11 for collection of Christmas trees.

Wright Twp. supervisor Don Zampetti emphasized that only real trees will be accepted and all ornaments and lights must be removed. The cost of permits to use the compost facility in 2025 have yet to be determined.

Wright Twp. supervisors at their December meeting tabled a motion to set the permit fees for 2025. Supervisor Paul Krzywicki said he would like to see figures on the COG’s sustainability before voting on a proposed motion on the COG fees. The proposed motion would have set the cost for permits for Wright Twp. residents at $25; $50 for other Mountain top area residents; and $250 for businesses. All were the same as 2024.
