A local mayor in a Montour County borough made an announcement this afternoon… Danville Mayor Bernie Swank said that she is retiring at the end of 2025.
Bernie was instrumental in helping to bring the Giant grocery store to town, worked with the planning commission on the tunnel and the Danville Riverside bridge. She has served on numerous committees over the 32 years including Seda-Cog, 4-H, Danville Police Commission just to name a few. Swank said that she felt 32 years of community service was long enough and she wanted to be able to travel and spend time with grandchildren.
She announced that she is endorsing Danville Resident Scott Richardson as candidate. Richardson served on borough council and was president during his term. He is married, has four grown daughters, two grandchildren and works at Geisinger. She feels he will do a great job because he shows his love for the community and wants to see growth in the future…
