Man in custody nearly ran down two officers at dangerous car meet in Northeast Philadelphia, say police

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia authorities on Thursday announced charges against a man they say endangered two police officers when he drove his car toward them before fleeing an illegal car meet in the city’s Northeast last Saturday night.

Deonte Vincent, 25, of Philadelphia is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and other offenses, according to Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney William Sandman. Investigators say he nearly hit two police officers as they were stopping someone else.

When officers got to a 50-car meetup along the 7400 block of Bustleton Avenue around 10 p.m. to break it up, Vincent drove his Dodge Charger directly at two officers.

“Proceeded to, fortunately, not strike either of the officers, but proceeded past them in a dangerous manner and then strikes the third person’s vehicle before taking off,” Sandman said…
