Early positives not enough to lift Beddingfield past Nash Central

The Beddingfield High varsity girls basketball team, playing for the first time in 12 days and coming off its only 2024-25 win, scored the first five points in Wednesday night’s nonconference game against Nash Central in the Beddingfield gym.

Also, the Bruins tossed a shutout for seven-plus minutes and owned a 11-8 lead after the opening quarter. Beddingfield maintained the upper hand some three minutes into the second quarter. In the process, do-it-all senior point guard Pinky Marshall showed semblances of the form that took her to The Wilson Times All-Area and All-Neuse 6 Conference form her junior season.

Although most of Wednesday night’s positives were also season firsts, the Bruins could not maintain and dropped a 44-31 decision to Nash Central, a 2-A member of the 2-A/3-A Big East Conference.

The second win in as many nights and the second of the season against Beddingfield boosted the Bulldogs of veteran head coach Terri Cash to a 7-5 mark…
