The Beddingfield High varsity girls basketball team, playing for the first time in 12 days and coming off its only 2024-25 win, scored the first five points in Wednesday night’s nonconference game against Nash Central in the Beddingfield gym.
Also, the Bruins tossed a shutout for seven-plus minutes and owned a 11-8 lead after the opening quarter. Beddingfield maintained the upper hand some three minutes into the second quarter. In the process, do-it-all senior point guard Pinky Marshall showed semblances of the form that took her to The Wilson Times All-Area and All-Neuse 6 Conference form her junior season.
Although most of Wednesday night’s positives were also season firsts, the Bruins could not maintain and dropped a 44-31 decision to Nash Central, a 2-A member of the 2-A/3-A Big East Conference.
