Tampa, FL – A rare cold weather advisory has been issued for parts of Florida, with temperatures expected to bring wind chills as low as 34 degrees early Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tampa Bay announced the advisory for inland areas of Polk, Hardee, DeSoto, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, and Sarasota counties. The advisory will remain in effect from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday.
According to the NWS, the unseasonably cold wind chills could pose risks of hypothermia for those without proper precautions. Officials recommend keeping pets indoors, checking on elderly neighbors, and ensuring the safe use of portable heaters.
