This morning on Excelsior Road in Mather, two vehicles collide, resulting in one fatality and another driver sustaining injuries. According to the KCRA, the incident occurred at the intersection of Excelsior Road and Kiefer Boulevard, where emergency services responded around 8:48 a.m. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported that one vehicle caught fire, trapping and ultimately claiming the life of the driver inside. As of 9:14 a.m., the Excelsior Road just south of Westerly Drive remained obstructed.
Details on the sequence of the crash were not immediately clear. Both vehicles were left with extensive damages. In a social media update, Metro Fire of Sacramento posted on X, mentioned that the other vehicle, apart from having caught on fire, had flipped over. The driver of the latter vehicle was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released.

Despite the efforts of firefighters and paramedics, the victim within the engulfed vehicle did not survive. “Crews arrived to a 2 vehicle crash, both vehicles sustaining major damage and blocking both lanes of traffic.
