(FOX40.COM) — Wildfires in Los Angeles have left many families without homes or belongings, and people across the state are stepping up to help. One Sacramento woman is on a mission to provide essential items to those affected. Tammy Pacheco of West Sacramento is no stranger to tragedy. Years ago, her family lost everything in a flood. Now, she’s turning her own experience into compassion, heading down to LA with much-needed supplies for families who have lost everything in the wildfires.

“I started with a couple of cases of water,” Pacheco said. “Then I called friends, and I called other friends, and said spread the word, I’m going to LA.” As flames continue to consume homes in Los Angeles, Pacheco is packing up to help. Watching the devastation unfold on TV brought back painful memories for her.
