APS Sees Encouraging Growth Reflected in State Report Card

Akron Public Schools (APS) has cause for celebration as the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) unveils its 2023 Ohio State Report Card, showcasing encouraging growth across critical academic areas. APS has made significant strides in student performance, particularly in core subjects and graduation rates, signaling positive momentum for the district. Public schools around Ohio have learned how they fared on state performance tests. The report card evaluates schools and districts on five key components — Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Early Literacy and Graduation — using a star rating system that ranges from one to five stars in half-star increments.

One or two stars mean the district performed below expectations, three means the district meets expectations, and four or five stars mean the district exceeded expectations.
