BOSTON, Mass. (SHNS)–Governor Maura Healey on Friday dispensed with the final 15 bills left on her desk in December by the last Legislature, approving laws dealing with school bus safety, dental hygienists, and naming a wildlife reserve after a longtime conservationist.
The 122 laws Healey approved during the week and a half between New Year’s Eve and Jan. 10 represent nearly 18 percent of the total 496 laws signed over the course of the 2023-2024 term. She signed every bill that reached her at the close of December, her office said.

Under the bus bill ( H 4940 ), cities and towns will be allowed to install monitoring devices on school buses to catch nearby vehicles that fail to stop for a stopped school bus.
