Massachusetts State Police K-9 ‘Odin” retires after serving Commonwealth for 7 years

“Please welcome K-9 “Odin” to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, as our 314th Program Member. Odin honorably served with the Massachusetts State Police, from 2017 to 2024, as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9.

K-9 Odin is an eight-year-old German Shepherd, that spent seven years serving the State of Massachusetts helping keep its citizens safe from dangerous criminals. Throughout his career, Odin participated over 90 deployments for narcotic searches, and he accumulated 15 patrol finds, which includes articles and people. Thus, resulting in numerous felony arrests and seizures of illegal drugs. Odin also responded to calls for service while on patrol, and participated in community demonstrations for schools, youth programs, and public relations events.

Now that Odin is retired, he has been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in his elbows. K-9 Odin must receive monthly injections that total hundreds of dollars each visit, to help him manage to best quality of life with this chronic issue…
