CAMPBELL, Ohio (WFMJ/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – Fourteen people were injured after their vehicles were struck by U-Haul that was fleeing authorities last Thursday.
According to WFMJ, 27-year-old Scott Pelton was taken into custody after allegedly fleeing authorities in a U-Haul truck, striking several vehicles along the way.
The station reported that Pelton is facing charges in both Ohio and Pennsylvania following the chase, which began in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania and ended in Youngstown, Ohio.
Pelton allegedly fled police down Route 422, striking multiple vehicles along the way, including a church van. Two juveniles and the driver of the van were hospitalized, along with four others whose vehicles were struck.
When speaking to WFMJ, authorities said 14 people were injured in the chase, which ended when the U-Haul struck a utility pole, along with half a dozen cars at a used car dealership.
According to WFMJ, authorities in Youngstown responded after receiving reports that Pelton was being held at gunpoint by officers from Pulaski Township, Coitsville Township and the city of Campbell…
