Man’s stabbing case goes to mental health court

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man accused of stabbing a family member pleaded guilty to an amended charge Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Kevin Kramer, 46, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony, for a Jan. 9 stabbing at a home in the 500 block of Ridge Avenue. He had originally been charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

In exchange for his plea, Kramer will now have his case heard in the county’s mental health court. If he agrees to the terms and conditions set on him by the court, the charge will be dropped when his treatment is completed.

Reports said police were called about 8:40 p.m. Jan. 9 to a home in the 500 block of Ridge Avenue for a report of a stabbing, and when they arrived, a small child came out, latched on to an officer’s leg and said her father had been stabbed by her uncle…
