PA woman accused of stealing over $317,000 in local fraud case

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. (WKBN)- A Pennsylvania woman awaits a preliminary hearing after she was accused of stealing over $317,000 in loans and credit cards from her former business partner in Sharpsville.

CarolJean Kane, 54, of McDonald, PA is accused of several felony charges including forgery and theft.

According to the criminal complaint, between 2017-2021 Kane started a business with the alleged victim. Reports said that Kane was supposed to deal with the financial books, but was not the owner and did not have access to the business account.

The criminal complaint said that in April 2024, the victim tried to open a bank account, but he couldn’t because there were too many credit cards open in his name. After a forensic accounting audit, the victim discovered that Kane had forged his signature and written checks for herself, the complaint stated…
