Colfax High School senior Jack Massett would not be denied in his final homecoming game. The all-Pioneer Valley League cornerback highlighted a masterclass put on by the Colfax defense in the second half of Friday’s game against Marysville at Robert O. Marston Field.
With 1:47 remaining in the game Massett high-pointed a ball for an interception that seemed as if it would seal the deal for Colfax, but Marysville’s defense held strong and forced a punt. Massett made his biggest play of the night as time expired, wrapping up Marysville’s Maqai Ellis in the open field to preserve a 26-21 victory for the Falcons.
“I saw (Ellis) catch the ball with no one near him and I just made a play,” Massett said of his game-sealing tackle. “This is the best feeling in the world. I could not ask for a better feeling. This is probably one of the best home games I’ve ever had. It means the world to me to do this on homecoming.”…
