A large piece of metal from the top floor of the fire-damaged Hotel Marysville fell to the ground Thursday afternoon, according to witnesses at the scene. Both Marysville Mayor Chris Branscum and Marysville Police Chief Chris Sachs were near the hotel when the incident occurred. According to Sachs, strong winds eventually freed the metal piece causing it to fall below. Hotel Marysville is currently fenced off with a safety perimeter established around it due to structural integrity concerns caused by a massive fire that destroyed much of the historic building on June 15.
