High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 12, reported receipts of 60,902 head compared to 67,988 head a week ago and 39,355 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 23,374 head, 1,300 to 1,700 lbs., 197.50 to 205.00 (202.96); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,732 head, 1,225 to 1,634 lbs., 200.00 to 203.00 (200.91); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,479 head, 1,330 to 1,450 lbs., 200.00 to 201.00 (200.75). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 882 head, 1,450 to 1,550 lbs., 203.00 to 206.00 (205.50). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,079 head, 837 to 1,096 lbs., 315.00 to 330.00 (320.32); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,179 head, 909 to 1,051 lbs., 320.00 to 320.00 (320.00).
