ODOT begins preparing for winter weather

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Have you started thinking about winter yet? The Ohio Department of Transportation is already working to prepare for what could come.

Before Jack Frost comes rolling towards Ohio, ODOT crews are taking proactive measures to ensure their team is ready for next season.

ODOT reports crews are doing the following:

  • Conducting safety checks on snowplows and equipment
  • Hiring drivers and mechanics
  • Topping off salt supplies

“These safety checks are important to ensure crews are well trained, equipment is road-ready, and deicing materials are stocked,” said Pamela Boratyn, director of ODOT. “ODOT plow drivers take great pride and responsibility in keeping roads safe, and communities connected during the winter months.”
