The abandoned Six Flags theme park in New Orleans, a haunting reminder of Hurricane Katrina, is finally being demolished.
The demolition, led by Smoot Construction, began at the site, which has become a symbol of the storm’s devastation. The park, once called Jazzland, opened in 2000 but closed after the hurricane struck in 2005.
Developers plan to transform the land into a thriving hub with a warehouse, educational center, water park, hotel, esports arena, and movie studio. Bayou Phoenix, the development partnership behind the project, has secured an agreement with one major tenant and is in talks with potential tenants for two more.
