Los Angeles Dodgers have signed infielder Tommy Edman to a hefty $74 million contract for five years. The deal includes an option for the team to extend his contract in 2030.
Edman, 29, joined the Dodgers in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals in July.
In just 37 games with Los Angeles, he impressed with his versatility, playing second base, shortstop, and the outfield. He made a significant contribution to the Dodgers’ World Series victory, earning the NL Championship Series MVP award.
Prior to the trade, Edman had agreed to a $16.5 million contract with the Cardinals. However, the new deal with the Dodgers supersedes that agreement. Edman would have become a free agent after the 2025 season, but this contract extension ensures his long-term commitment to the Dodgers.
