Escalator Malfunction Injures 11 at American Family Field Post-Game

Additional Coverage:

Following a recent game at American Family Field between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs, an incident occurred where an escalator malfunctioned, causing it to speed up unexpectedly. This resulted in injuries to eleven spectators.

According to a statement from the Brewers relayed by Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the malfunction happened as fans were moving from the Terrace to the Loge Level after Saturday afternoon’s game. Of those affected, five were treated at the stadium, while another six required hospitalization for injuries deemed not life-threatening.

The team expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by the onsite physician and emergency medical services in responding to the incident.

American Family Field, previously known as Miller Park until the end of the 2020 season, has been the Brewers’ home since the 2001 season commenced. In a significant update for the stadium, last December, Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin approved legislation allocating over $500 million in public funding towards necessary upgrades for the facility, extending through 2050.

The baseball series between the Cubs and Brewers is set to wrap up with a game on Sunday afternoon, after which the Brewers are scheduled for a seven-game road trip along the West Coast.
