Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has praised Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as a “strong choice” for Secretary of State. Despite their political differences, Fetterman believes Rubio is qualified for the role.
If Rubio accepts the position, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will appoint a temporary replacement for his Senate seat until a special election is held.
Other Republican lawmakers have also endorsed Rubio’s appointment. Representative Greg Steube described him as “an outstanding choice” who will promote freedom and defend American interests globally.
Representative Carlos Giménez called Rubio’s selection “a truly historic and brilliant choice.”
Rubio has announced his support for fellow Senator Rick Scott as the Senate Republican Leader. The vote for the leadership position is scheduled for Wednesday.
