Fever Make Playoff Debut with Youth and Excitement

The Indiana Fever are making their first playoff appearance in seven years, and every starter is experiencing it for the first time. Despite their lack of postseason experience, the team is relying on their energy and youth to upset the No. 3 Connecticut Sun.

"We can’t get too tight," said rookie standout Caitlin Clark. "Fun and energy have brought us success this season."

The Fever have the least playoff experience among the eight playoff teams, with only 19 games played collectively. In contrast, the Sun have a whopping 222 games of playoff experience.

However, Indiana’s inexperience may not be a disadvantage. Coach Christie Sides said, "They don’t know, so they’ll just come out and play hard."

Despite losing the regular-season series 3-1 to the Sun, the Fever won their last encounter in August. Sun coach Stephanie White acknowledged Indiana’s improvement since then, saying, "They’ve settled into their roles and they’re elite in those roles."

Star guard Kelsey Mitchell is expected to play Sunday after an injury scare. The best-of-three series begins in Connecticut, with the Fever hosting a potential Game 3 if necessary.
