Immigration Crackdown Nets Dozens of Gang Members
Federal immigration authorities arrested 25 members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua on Monday. This was part of a larger sweep that resulted in nearly 1,000 arrests nationwide.
Among those arrested was a convicted member of MS-13 in Dallas. Officials say the operation is part of a broader effort to strengthen border security and enforce immigration laws.
“Border czar” Tom Homan emphasized the administration’s focus on consequences for illegal entry. He stated that addressing the border problem requires demonstrating that there are repercussions.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the administration’s actions, stating that the deportations make American communities safer. She emphasized the President’s aim to launch a large-scale deportation of illegal criminals.
Leavitt defined anyone entering the country illegally as a criminal. She acknowledged this represents a shift in perspective from the previous administration.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem participated in an immigration enforcement operation in New York City on Tuesday. The operation included both criminal and civil enforcement actions, with one case involving a Tren de Aragua member.
Noem, recently confirmed to her position, affirmed the administration’s commitment to empowering law enforcement to remove criminal aliens and gangs.
