Mace, Dem Rep Clash After Condescending Remark

Additional Coverage:

Chaos erupted in the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday during a heated exchange between Representatives Nancy Mace and Jasmine Crockett.

The argument began after Crockett addressed Mace as “child” during a discussion about civil rights. Mace, visibly angered, challenged Crockett to a physical confrontation outside the committee room.

The two lawmakers interrupted each other as Committee Chairman James Comer attempted to regain control of the meeting.

Crockett later accused Mace of bullying and attacking the most vulnerable people in society. Mace responded on Twitter, denying any intention of physical violence and claiming Crockett was bullying her.

Mace clarified her statement in a statement to Fox News, saying she wished to take the conversation outside the floor for a more constructive discussion, not to fight. She also emphasized her status as a rape survivor and her opposition to the left’s extremism.

Crockett’s office accused Mace of threatening physical violence and highlighted the need for a subcommittee on civil rights and civil liberties.

The incident occurred on the same day the House passed a bill banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports at federally funded schools. Two House Democrats voted with Republicans in favor of the bill.
