California Wildfires

Over 15 million Californians face fire weather alerts, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento, due to extreme dryness and gusty winds. Humidity could drop to 5% in some areas, while winds could reach 55 mph. These conditions create a high risk for fires to ignite and spread.

California Fire has increased staffing statewide during the Red Flag Warnings, which will remain in effect until Saturday afternoon. Three major fires have already broken out: the Keller fire in Oakland, the Mission Fire near Riverside, and the Hay Fire in Solano County.

Tropical Storm Nadine

Tropical Storm Nadine has made landfall in Belize with winds of 60 mph. It is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Belize and southern Mexico before weakening and dissipating over Mexico by Sunday.

Hurricane Oscar

Hurricane Oscar has rapidly formed near Turks and Caicos, reaching winds of 80 mph. It is expected to strengthen further before facing unfavorable conditions. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Turks and Caicos, the southern Bahamas, and parts of Cuba.
