Musk Calls Starship Explosion “Entertaining”

Additional Coverage:

Billionaire Elon Musk responded with amusement to a spectacular explosion during the latest test launch of his Starship rocket. Musk shared a video of the incident on Twitter, describing it as “entertaining as hell.”

The massive rocket exploded about nine minutes into the launch, creating a fiery spectacle in the Texas sky. Witnesses in Turks and Caicos also reported seeing the falling debris.

Despite the setback, Musk remains optimistic. He acknowledged the uncertainty of success but emphasized the entertainment value of the launch. No astronauts were onboard the unmanned craft.

SpaceX officials reported a loss of communication with the rocket and described the explosion as a “rapid unscheduled disassembly.” However, the Super Heavy booster successfully returned to the launch pad after the incident.

Musk indicated that SpaceX will investigate the explosion and make adjustments for future launches. He suspects an oxygen/fuel leak may have contributed to the failure.

Starship is intended to transport humans to Mars in the future, but Musk acknowledges that the project is still in its early stages.
