North Korea Fires Missiles Again

Additional Coverage:

Pyongyang, North Korea – North Korea conducted a strategic cruise missile test on Saturday, according to state-run media KCNA. Leader Kim Jong Un observed the test of what was described as an “important weapon system.”

KCNA reported the underwater-to-surface missiles traveled over 900 miles, flying for roughly two hours before striking their targets.

On Sunday, North Korea’s foreign ministry issued a separate statement. The ministry vowed the “toughest counteraction” against the United States, accusing Washington of rejecting Pyongyang’s sovereignty.

The statement blamed growing regional tensions on the military alliance and joint drills between the U.S. and South Korea. This comes after former President Donald Trump said he would reach out to Kim again.

Kim Jong Un emphasized North Korea’s commitment to strengthening its military capabilities. He stated the country would continue its efforts to bolster its defense and maintain peace and stability.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed the launch. They reported multiple cruise missiles were fired westward from inland areas on Saturday afternoon.

The missile test was described as part of North Korea’s plan to enhance its national defense in response to evolving regional security concerns. Earlier this month, North Korea also claimed a successful test of a new hypersonic ballistic missile.
