Officers Involved in Fatal Beating Had Prior Complaints

Additional Coverage:

Three prison officers allegedly involved in the beating of Robert Brooks have faced lawsuits for prior incidents of brutality.

Nicholas Anzalone, Glenn Trombly, and Anthony Farina are named as defendants in lawsuits claiming excessive force and cover-ups.

In one lawsuit, Adam Bauer alleges that Anzalone and others assaulted him for smoking in a bathroom. Another lawsuit claims that Trombly and Farina witnessed the unprovoked assault of Caleb Bause.

A third lawsuit by Equarn White alleges that Trombly and others attacked him at Green Haven Correctional Facility in 2015. White claims that Trombly held him down while another officer stomped on his testicles.

During the incident involving Brooks, Trombly was reportedly wearing a body camera and appeared to watch the beating without intervening.

The New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association has not yet commented on these allegations.
