Teen Pop Group Wins Lawsuit Against Toy Maker

OMG Girlz, along with Tameka "Tiny" Harris and Chris "T.I." Harris, have been awarded $71.5 million in damages after a jury found that toy maker MGA Entertainment infringed on their intellectual property.

The lawsuit stemmed from MGA’s "L.O.L. Surprise!

O.M.G." dolls, which the jury determined shared a name and style with the all-female pop group. OMG Girlz claimed that the dolls’ appearance and clothing resembled their own.

The jury awarded the plaintiffs $17.9 million in actual damages and $53.6 million in punitive damages.

OMG Girlz member Zonnique Pullins celebrated the verdict on social media, stating that it would protect creatives from having their ideas exploited.

The case had gone through several trials, including a mistrial and a previous verdict in favor of MGA. However, the judge granted OMG Girlz’s request for a retrial, which ultimately led to the $71.5 million award.

MGA has denied the infringement allegations and has not yet commented on the verdict.
