A tragic plane crash in Fullerton, California, has left two people dead and 19 injured.

The small plane, carrying four people, crashed into a furniture warehouse near the Fullerton Municipal Airport on Thursday afternoon. The two fatalities were believed to be inside the aircraft at the time of impact.

Eleven of the injured were transported to hospitals, while the others sustained minor injuries. One person suffered severe injuries.

The plane, a kit-built Van’s Aircraft RV-10, took off from the airport and reached an altitude of 900 feet before requesting an immediate return to land. It then crashed 1,000 feet short of the runway.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board noted that kit-built aircraft are common but require owner construction and maintenance under FAA inspection.

The impact caused significant damage and a large fire at the warehouse. Firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze.
