Ramaswamy Quits Trump Team for Ohio

Additional Coverage:

Local entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has stepped down from his role as co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He was expected to lead the initiative alongside Elon Musk.

Ramaswamy’s departure comes amid speculation he will run for governor of Ohio in 2026. He is expected to make a formal announcement soon.

In a statement, Ramaswamy expressed confidence in Musk’s ability to lead DOGE and streamline government operations. He thanked the team and reiterated his support for former President Trump.

A Trump spokesperson confirmed Ramaswamy’s departure, citing his intention to run for office as the reason. The spokesperson thanked Ramaswamy for his contributions.

Ramaswamy’s potential political future has been a topic of discussion recently. He was previously considered a possible candidate for the US Senate seat vacated by JD Vance. However, that seat was filled by Jon Husted.

With Ramaswamy’s departure, Musk will now be the sole leader of DOGE. Former President Trump officially established the initiative via executive order on Monday. Ramaswamy has recently hinted at a gubernatorial run, publicly thanking Senator Marsha Blackburn for her support.
