Russia, Ukraine Trade Drone Attacks, Airports Hit

Additional Coverage:

Two Russian airports, Kazan and Saratov, have been closed to flights after reports of drone attacks from Ukraine.

Authorities in Kazan reported eight drones hitting the city, causing fires in residential areas but no casualties. Officials said all emergency services have been deployed and urged citizens to remain calm.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claims to have shot down six Ukrainian drones over Kazan, while Ukraine’s air force reports downing 57 drones nationwide.

Air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine on Saturday, with reports of ballistic missile use. Attacks have damaged buildings in Kherson, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia, with injuries reported.

President Zelenskyy condemned the attacks as Russian terror and called for increased pressure on Russia.

This follows a combined missile and drone strike on Kyiv on Friday that caused significant damage and killed at least one person. The strike also damaged several foreign embassies, which Ukrainian officials have described as “barbaric.”
