Singer DaniLeigh Arrested for DUI, Claims Fame Should Prevent Arrest

Additional Coverage:

DaniLeigh seemed to believe her celebrity status would help her escape legal consequences, as suggested by newly released bodycam footage from her DUI hit-and-run arrest in May 2023. The footage captured a startling scene where DaniLeigh informed Miami police that they couldn’t arrest her because she was a known R&B singer. This occurred right after she allegedly hit a teenager on a moped, causing him severe injuries including a kidney laceration and a spinal fracture.

In the video, DaniLeigh is seen trying to assert her innocence while mentioning she was accompanied by Quavo and his security team. An officer is seen asking them to step back as they inquired about the situation. Throughout the encounter, DaniLeigh appears to laugh and slur her words, claiming she was completely sober and had aced the sobriety tests—a claim contradicted by her performance.

According to the officers, DaniLeigh registered blood alcohol levels of 0.145 and 0.148 on the Breathalyzer, significantly over the legal limit. Despite the evidence, she continually denied hitting anyone. Police video later showed her vehicle striking the victim and the subsequent sparks from his scooter as it was dragged.

The police report also noted that multiple witnesses observed DaniLeigh hit the teenager and drag him for approximately a block before the police were alerted. DaniLeigh was subsequently arrested and faced three felony charges: driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and DUI damage to property. She was convicted in February after a no-contest plea to misdemeanor and felony charges and was sentenced to five years’ probation.
