Evangelist With Ties to Trump to Join Ohio Senator at Town Hall
Ohio Senator JD Vance will share the stage with Lance Wallnau, a controversial evangelist, at a town hall in Pennsylvania this weekend. Wallnau has made headlines for his claims that Vice President Kamala Harris uses "witchcraft" and for his support of former President Donald Trump.
Wallnau, a self-proclaimed prophet, believes that Christians should hold positions of power in key areas of society, including government. Since 2016, he has viewed Trump as a chosen leader who will restore Christian influence in America.
In recent months, Wallnau has led worship rallies in swing states, mixing political commentary with end-times prophecies. He has warned that Harris is influenced by demonic forces.
The Harris campaign has condemned Vance for aligning with Wallnau, calling him a conspiracy theorist. Wallnau has previously campaigned with Republican candidates, but his involvement with Vance marks a new level of engagement between Trump’s world and Wallnau’s.
Vance has also faced criticism for associating with other controversial religious leaders. Earlier this month, he appeared at an event where the pastor expressed anti-gay views.
