Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie dominated the first round of the PNC Championship, sharing the lead with Bernhard Langer and his son Jason.
Woods had surgery on his lower back in September but recovered in time to compete with his son. The duo made five consecutive birdies on the back nine, shooting a 13-under 59.
Woods downplayed his performance, saying he still felt rusty. However, he emphasized the joy of spending time with his son on the course.
Langer and his son made eight birdies in a row, while Vijay Singh and his son shot 28 on the back nine.
Other teams in contention include Padraig Harrington and son Paddy, and Tom Lehman and son Sean.
For Charlie Woods, the PNC Championship is an opportunity to learn from his father and other top golfers. He says he’s learned the importance of focusing on his game rather than winning.
The tournament features major winners and their family members, including Annika Sorenstam, Nelly Korda, and Steve Stricker.
